Activities

At Little Planet we offer a wide array of activities, all of which focus on skill development and learning-by-doing. All activities are led with enthusiasm by individuals that have a sincere desire to inspire those around them.

It is our firm belief that it is a) not about what you do, but how you do it, and b) not about the gifts that you have, but how you use them.

A typical day at Little Planet is divided into two Interest Group Periods (IG) in the morning and three Cabin Activity Periods (CAP) in the afternoon and evening.  These periods are separated by meals, rest periods and a daily beach party.

Interest Groups: Choose Your Fun

Interest Groups are an opportunity for campers to participate in activities of their choice with other campers from their section. Each activity is led by an experienced and qualified instructor.

These periods follow a progression from introduction to application of newly acquired skills.  Interest Groups are generally project or expedition based; whether that be embarking on a kayak trip, putting on a play, creating an edition of a newspaper or crafting local jewelry.

Interest Groups include: kayaking, drama, music, land-sports, sailing, marine life, dance, jungle life, arts & crafts, and the Little Planet Times.

Cabin Activity Periods: Get Creative

During Cabin Activity Periods, campers engage in a variety of traditional and non-traditional activities with their cabin mates.

Led by their counselor, these activities are generally determined by the interests of the cabin group and are loosely structured, highly dynamic and fun.  Activities rely heavily on the creativity of the group and can range anywhere from snorkeling to Frisbee-golf, kayaking to searching for turtle eggs.

Creative programming is a huge element of Summer Camp at the Lagoon.  We pride ourselves on our ability to prompt the creation of stimulating and fun activities by inspiring campers with energy and enthusiasm. By taking advantage of all of our available resources from the jungle to a simple volleyball net, our staff demonstrates that having fun and learning is possible anywhere and with anything.

All-Section/Camp Activities

Throughout each session, campers will participate in activities that involve other sections of the camp.  These activities are multi-faceted and incorporate various age appropriate activities into one main game, themed activity or central objective.

Examples of All-Section/Camp activities include themed meals and cook-outs, Little Planet Productions, The Little Planet Olympics, cabarets, Carnival Day, capture the flag, development initiatives, campfires and various ceremonies.
